                                                  About September 1969

Of course this is not my uniform.  This is how it came to be:

In July 1969, Niel Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walked on the moon.  On their return to earth they were promoted to "Full" captain.  NASA sent their uniforms from Houston via the Navy Recruiting Command there, and I had to meet the Houston recruiter in Victoria to pick up the uniforms and take them to NAS Corpus Christi at the base exchange where the stripes were put on their uniforms.  Before I delivered them back to Victoria, I had my wife, Charlotte, take a photo of me in their uniforms.  That way I could say I wore their uniforms BEFORE they did.  A small part of history, but, yes, HISTORY!!

Being a gun-ho Navy Recruiter in Corpus Christi in 1969, I put a sign in my front yard.

Which one is me?  Hint: I was a 1st Class Petty Officer, 2nd row, third from left.
